Welcome Letter from the President

Dear All,

Jerusalem, one of the oldest cities in the world, is very special. While multitudes – Palestinians and Israelis; Muslims, Christians, and Jews; and others – make it their home and place of worship and work, others look to it for inspiration, for comfort. All of this is happening against a backdrop of uncertainty and less than peaceful conditions in the city of peace.

The Jerusalem Peace Institute (JPI), a non-partisan and non-profit organization, highlights Jerusalem as humanity’s shared gift and as central for a just peace. Our responsibility is to be part of the solution by emphasizing the city’s multicultural, multi-ethnic, multi-faith, and multilingual nature, as well as work diligently to engender openness, empowerment, and joint action. These can transform untapped potential into realizable goals, vision into reality, and hopelessness into expectations and elated spirits.

Jerusalem and Jerusalemites need our help today more than ever before. Through JPI, we will broaden opportunities for justice, equality, inclusion, economic resilience, cultural heritage, and accountable leadership. We will advocate vigorously for the peace of Jerusalem and for bringing peace to the whole region.

Many of you – individually and organizationally – have been concerned about Jerusalem and have worked for the peace of Jerusalem for years. I extend a warm invitation to all of you to join our efforts to make Jerusalem the inspiration of a just peace for all.

You will find information on JPI and its vision, mission, strategic goals, and programs here. I hope the JPI message will resonate with you and motivate you to assist us on our journey. You are welcome to contact us to discuss ways by which we could cooperate to sustain our momentum and trajectory.

With gratitude and peace,

Saliba Sarsar, Ph.D.
